Questions & Answers

Here are some answers to common questions.

Every Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm.

  • Junior and Senior high groups will now be separated to lower our gathered numbers.
  • This will also apply to events, including leaders and factoring in average attendance numbers prior to COVID.
  • On nights where we have a high turnout, each group will have in the neighbourhood of 20-25 students.
  • Each group will meet in a separate building (Jrs @ theCLOVA & Srs @ the58)Groups and leaders will not crossover barring myself and other staff, unless there is an emergency requiring a response.
  • Students will sanitize their hands upon entry each night and during each event.
  • Upon arrival and during group and game times where close physical proximity can’t be mitigated, masks will be required.
  • During small group times and teaching, social distancing will be practiced but masks will not be required in order to facilitate conversation. Each small group will effectively become its own social bubble
  • Our aim is to adhere to government guidelines not simply to follow rules but as a means of witness to Christ. The goal is the effective proclamation of the gospel by any means necessary. 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 - For though I am free from all, I have made myself a Servant to all, that I might win more of them. To the jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not myself being under the law) that I might win those under the law. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I might share with them in it’s blessing.
  • Beyond these protocols and guidelines, we want parents to know that we will be guiding and creating structures but not policing your youth and there is a large degree in which kids will not always strictly adhere to guidelines. In understanding this we want all parents to carefully and prayerfully consider their own level of comfort in choosing to bring their youth to CRYouth on a weekly basis.
  • If you do to choose not to bring your students to our regular gatherings and events we will do what we can to provide tools and help to parents seeking to disciple and train their youth from the distance of their own homes. Check our website for more details and parent resources.
Who or what is CRYouth?
Disciples of Jesus making disciples of Jesus

CRYouth is a community of students who are seeking and seeking to apprentice under Jesus together. No matter where we are in our faith journey this a place to ask questions, a place to belong, a place to encourage one another, and a place to enjoy the way and the abundant life that Jesus offers.

1 Timothy 4:12

Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers and example in speech, in conduct, in faith, in purity.

The Vision

It all starts with Jesus and his amazing grace:

While we're called to live out the mission of Jesus (Matthew 28:19-20), we can't actually do that without first recognizing our own lostness and need for Him.

We're given grace and strength not just for eternal salvation but for life now:

Salvation is an amazing gift and calling (2 Timothy 1:1-10) that God, in His mercy, has chosen to share with us, and none of us has ever done a thing to deserve it. Because of that incredible truth, we aim to live our lives the way Jesus did in and by His strength, abiding in His words and by his example, empowered by His Spirit.

We aim to imitate what Jesus practiced and taught:

Sometimes we forget that we need to move forward from the fact that Jesus is "the truth," and also keep in mind that He is "the way" and "the life.' (John 14:6) Our aim is to humbly live out what Jesus taught, as the greatest teacher of all time, and also how he lived as the perfect human.

We share what we've received:

Jesus called us to "go" and to "do," (Matthew 28:19-20) so our aim is to publicly acknowledge that Christ is with us in our schools, our homes, on social media, on our couches, and in all of our lives. And as we acknowledge and share that truth with a world that's lost, we trust that God will reach those He calls. Then we walk alongside those who He has called, striving together to better know, share, and live out the love of Jesus.

FALL 2020

Starting on September 16th CRYouth returns for another season of growing deeper in the grace and ways of Jesus. There's lots to look forward to, from Wednesday meetings of our Junior and Senior groups (now separated!) to events and special gatherings!

As we return our aim is to comply with government guidelines of health and safety while continuing to be disciples of Jesus who go and make disciples of Jesus.

FALL SERIES

All through the fall months, CRYouth is going to be taking a closer look at what it means to, and how to go about following Jesus in our world today.

John 10:10 tells us that Jesus came that we may have "life abundantly," but Jesus didn't just tell us that it was possible, He showed us how by how He lived His life and by what He taught. We call this "The Jesus Way," and because we call him Lord and because we know he not only did life the best way, but also gives us the help to do the same, we want to train ourselves to live that Jesus way. From September to December we're going to learn and practice "The Jesus Way."
